Dear Old Dad

I remember him bouncing me on his knee

Throwing me up and catching me

I remember well, Dear Old Dad

I remember Sundays at Easter time

Colored eggs and poems that rhyme

I remember well, Dear Old Dad

I remember washing the car in a creek

Splashing in the water ’till I was weak

I remember well, Dear Old Dad

I remember service at a country church

Wildwood flowers and trees of birch

I remember well, Dear Old Dad

I remember after church at the Ladies Aid

Eatin’ all the goodies that the women made

I remember well, Dear Old Dad

I remember lights on a Christmas tree

All the pretty presents bought for me

I remember well, Dear Old Dad

I remember takin’ sips of a Schafer beer

Thinkin’ it was bad and tasted weird

I remember well, Dear Old Dad

I remember bible verses on Sunday morn

Singin’ from hymnals old and torn

I remember well, Dear Old Dad

I remember the yard workin’ on a car

Then you takin’ off for the local bar

I remember well, Dear Old Dad

I remember when you preached the very first time

Proudly saying that dad was mine

I remember well, Dear Old Dad

I remember your nightmares from the war

Admitted to the hospital, seventh floor

I remember well, Dear Old Dad

I remember being called a wildcats kitten

With my dad I was totally smitten

I remember well, Dear Old Dad

You probably wonder why I wrote this stuff

You must think I think you’re old and rough

Cause I remember well, Dear Old Dad

What I really want to say is how much its meant

For all the time and money you’ve spent

May the good Lord keep you well, Dear Old Dad

Becoming One

It is three a.m. and I lay sleeping

When the scent arouses me

A crisis at the power station

Your job’s to check and see

I didn’t hear the door

Nor did I hear the shower

As deep as I was sleeping

You’d been home an hour

When you entered the bedroom

Quiet as a mouse

I didn’t hear a sound

No stirring in the house

What stimulated my senses

And then awakened me

Was the smell of your cologne

Brought forth the woman in me

No longer was I tired

Or in another zone

I knew that you were near

And I was not alone

I reached across the bed

And gently stroked your skin

You turned over to face me

To hold me close again

I felt you pull me closer

Your lips pressed into mine

I kissed you oh so deeply

As slowly we entwined

Your body was inviting

Mine receptive too

There was nothing on my mind

Except for loving you

As fingers traced my neckline

And shivers rippled in

Lips nibbling all my curves

My head began to spin

Two people here together

Loves passion, legal lust

I knew this was the lover

I could always trust

To protect me and to love me

Take me to greater heights

Fulfill the need within me

For a century of nights

Bring to my knees

Make me cry out for more

I return the favor

You knew what lay in store

The joining of our bodies

Our spirits, souls and minds

As two become just one

Consummating ties that bind

She is A Survivor

She is a survivor

Sometimes scared and frightened

Fearing for her life

Often for her limbs

Yet she continues

Many times she is hungry

Not just for food, but life

Attention, a hug or two

Once she was learning

When she was younger

Thats when she had to

The others ridiculed her

Her clothes, her hair, just her

Everyday was the same

One outfit was the limit

Tattered, filthy and plain

From a Hefty Bag left on the sidewalk

Same as a few meals in the past

The smell of booze and cigarettes

Old syringes strewn about

Bottles, cans, trash and roaches

Mice and rats called it home too

Electricity was a bonus

It never lasted long

Incense and candles a bonus

The aroma enabled the dream

The others never lived like this

Not the ones from school

They loathed her presence, her being

Those were the reasons

She loathed her being

Tears used to reign

They had disappeared long ago

The need for heat was strong

The lack of an expected

Pieces of cardboard, old drapes

Whatever could be utilized

Never any reason to expect more

The beast always ruled

Her purpose was never known

Not an essential or necessity

Maybe a whipping post

She is a Survivor

A sounding board for scorn

Seeking a pity party in her moments

A beast is a beast is a beast

Fists of fury

Teeth of steel and eyes stone cold

Bruises from these weapons

Maybe fractures, broken too

Nobody ever cared

A small photograph of a young girl

With a beautiful woman

Before the beast came

Before they went to hell

She is a survivor

Delilah, I Am

Delilah, I Am

I am Delilah, a woman of beauty

Strong and fearless, lusting for power

Lover of Samson, the man I betrayed

Shall I sever, yes! I did

Ponytail in my hand, blood rushing through my veins

Never to tango with that lover again

Forgiveness would not be mine

Scurry into the shadows with my prize

Like a diplomat, untouchable

Houdini has nothing on me

Now you see me, now you dont

When you do bow to me

For I am Delilah

She who chose to celebrate

Do not trample on my parade

Strength is a good thing

Cunning is better

Desire me but do not resist me

Take me while you still can

Fear me for I am your doom

Delilah, I am

Because I Am

Because I Am

In a cloud of thought I ponder

Knowing some and wondering more

Would I continue if I knew

Had an inkling what lay in store

Am I because of something greater

Or destiny, true or just a sham

Of need, want or desperation

Or plain and simple, because I am

Unrequitted Love

I sit in anticipation

Eyes ready to enjoy the feast

Seems like its been forever

Nows the time to feed the beast

One that has cowered in the shadows

Quietly, hidden out of sight

Unable to divulge the details

Of a tragic loveless plight

A maiden lovely, young and wanted

By many men, both near and far

Yet, the one she spends her dreams on

Treats her as a distant star

One nobody seems to notice

Even though it twinkles high

A beauty in amongst the beauties

He’ll not notice until shes nigh

Warm, morning sunshine streams through the window

Simmering on my fresh, cleansed skin

Being lazy I gaze at the ceiling

Contemplating both good and sin

Longing for energy that has escaped once more

Restless and worn, I remain

Still and staring at things unseen

Objects of my mind, keep me sane

The beginning, conception

Needed contraception

He lies, its deception

There is no exception

No one wants rejection

Longs for affection

Avoids all infection

Cries for attention

No mind for invention

Not set for intention

Yet needs intervention

Remains of conviction

Denies an affliction

No pay, there’s eviction

So on with detention

I feel I must mention

The apt of my situation

And voice my frustration

Once again, a vacation

PLEASE

Questions for asking

In the sun I am basking

Strangers are masking

Should be multi tasking

But here I sit pressing

My God for a blessing

No second guessing

My life I keep messing

So now I am stressing

While the world keeps on humming

And many keep bumming

My guitar I’m strumming

Sometimes I go slumming

With noise I’m drumming

Don’t want to start boozing

Or continue on losing

Ocassional smoozing

A few times I’m schmoozing

I need to start choosing

Instead of this faking

Maybe try baking

A little less taking

My lawn needs a raking

My heart I’ve been staking

With decisions I’m making

Evils needs for-saking

A new birth and waking

Keep the earth from quaking

Steady not shaking

Live for the loving

No pushing and shoving

Some sweet turtle doving

Lifes about living

Not taking but giving

My mind has been flipping

And time keeps on slipping

No mouthing and lipping

Some sweet tea for sipping

No creditors jipping

And no whiskey for nipping

I’d never be stalking

Prefer to be talking

No time for balking

The house I am caulking

For exercise I’m walking

My meucci I’m chalking

Life I keep bumbling

The big things I’m fumblimg

Mt stomach is rumbling

The family is grumbling

Seems I am crumbling

Lately I’m clinging

I prefer to be singing

My life I am winging

In court theres mud slinging

Don’t know what lifes bringing

Computer crashes there’s pinging

Somewhere church bells are ringing

People spending money and blinging

Car crashes create dinging

Bees buzz while stinging

Frisbees are flinging

And I sit here being
